English

St Peter’s promotes equity and excellence through the teaching and learning of English. English is central to the learning and development of all students at St Peter’s. Through the study of English, individuals learn to analyse, understand, communicate and build relationships with others in and beyond their world.  This process helps create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens of the global and technological age.

Not only does the study of English help young people develop the knowledge and skills needed for education, training and the workplace it also leads to an appreciation of the beauty of literature fostering a world of creative thought and expression.

While being respectful of all cultural backgrounds, our intent is to ensure that all learners at St Peter’s are proficient in Standard Australian English. Subsequently we use the Australian Curriculum: English as our guide for the teaching and learning of English.
