At St Peter's Catholic Primary School, we believe in the importance of being physically active to support a healthy body and mind.

Physical Education (PE) is taught as a specialist subject area from Prep to Year 6. Students are provided with the opportunity during their 40 minute lesson to participate in physical activity on a weekly basis as a minimum part of the HPE curriculum.

At the core of Health and Physical Education is the acquisition of movement skills and concepts to enable students to participate in a range of physical activities – confidently, competently and creatively.  As a foundation for lifelong physical activity participation and enhanced performance, students acquire an understanding of how the body moves and develop positive attitudes towards physical activity participation. Health and Physical Education provides students with an experiential curriculum that is contemporary, relevant, challenging and physically active.

St Peter's School Athletics Carnival is offered in Term 2 or 3 each year and all students have the opportunity to compete and demonstrate the skills they have learned.  All classes participate in swimming lessons in Terms 1 and 4, with a swimming carnival for students in Years 3-6, and a celebration of skills in Prep to Year 2. Interschool Sports along with other, additional sporting activities are standard practice for students in Years 4-6. The sports offered include netball, softball, touch football, rugby league, cricket, AFL, basketball and soccer. The whole school also participates in an annual cross country event.
