Brisbane Catholic Education schools exist to support the mission of the Church by providing a Catholic education that is Christ-centred, community-oriented, and committed to the holistic development of each student.
The following criteria are used to guide enrolment decisions at St Peter’s School. In keeping with BCE Enrolment Policy, priority is given to families who demonstrate a commitment to the Catholic faith and to the mission and life of the school. Each criterion is considered important, and together they provide a fair and consistent basis for decision-making.
Due to increasing demographic demand and the finite capacity of the school, not all applicants may be offered a place. These criteria assist in prioritising enrolments in a transparent and equitable manner.
Families are expected to familiarise themselves with the Parent Handbook, which outlines the history, mission, values, and expectations of St Peter’s School, including participation in the life of the school, behaviour support processes, and educational programs.
Criteria:
- The applicant is a baptised Catholic, with Baptism having occurred at least two years prior to enrolment (where applicable).
- The applicant and enrolling parents/guardians demonstrate active participation in the life of a Catholic parish community.
- The enrolling parents/guardians demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Catholic identity and mission of St Peter’s School, including the role of Catholic education in faith formation.
- The enrolling parents/guardians support the religious education program and the broader faith life of the school, including participation in liturgies and prayer experiences.
- Priority consideration may be given to applicants with siblings currently enrolled at St Peter’s School, recognising the value of family connection within the school community.
- The enrolling parents/guardians recognise the school as a partner in the education of their child and commit to a respectful, collaborative relationship that supports student wellbeing and learning, consistent with BCE expectations of partnership.
- The enrolling parents/guardians demonstrate a willingness to support school policies and procedures, including those relating to respectful relationships, behaviour support, student wellbeing, and dress standards.
- The enrolling parents/guardians support their child’s full participation in the life of the school, including compulsory curricular and co-curricular experiences such as excursions, camps, interschool sport, and community events.
- The enrolling parents/guardians accept responsibility for meeting financial obligations associated with enrolment, including fees and levies, and commit to working in partnership with the school where financial hardship arises, in line with BCE guidelines.
- The enrolling parents/guardians are willing to contribute to the life of the school and parish community, recognising the importance of building a strong, supportive Catholic community.
