Beerburrum Road Safety Alert

‚ÄčThis week an email was sent to all parents/carers alerting them to the safety risk that exists for all community members when crossing at the lights on Beerburrum Road outside the school admin block. I include the reminders for all parents and carers below:

  • Parents who park along the edge of the rail corridor on the Eastern side of Beerburrum Road to wait for their children, are strongly urged to walk across Beerburrum Road to collect their children on the school side of the road. Please do not allow your children to walk across the lights unattended. Please do not gesture to your children to cross the road by themselves.

  • We remind all parents/carers and students to use extreme caution when crossing Beerburrum Road and to scan up and down the road as they cross. Look before you cross!

We have made a report to the Queensland Police Service requesting that they closely monitor and patrol the crossing. School staff will continue to be out near the crossing as regularly as possible and staff have been rostered on the crossing in the afternoon. I have also requested a meeting with our State Representative Mr Mark Ryan MP to inspect the lights and to discuss the possibility of implementing further safety controls.

The safety and care of our community is incredibly important to us. Please contact me through the school office if you have any questions.
