Feast Day of St Mary MacKillop - 8th August

Last Thursday was the feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. To help celebrate the life of this remarkable Australian woman, we had four of our Year 6 girls dress up as Sisters of St Joseph as they would have looked in the time of Mary MacKillop. These ‘sisters’ went around to the Junior and middle primary classes and taught the children a little more about Mary MacKillop. The Year 6 girls had a great time doing this and the children in the classes that they visited enjoyed the stories they read to them.

As you already know, one of the constant sayings of St Mary of the Cross was to never see a need with out trying to do something about it. One of our Year 4 Purple students, Reegan, has done exactly that. His photo was on the front page of the Caboolture Herald because he has been collecting cans for recycling and donating the money he received to charity, He recently raised $295 to buy a special table for a child with Cerebral Palsy. Congratulations Reegan on your kindness and initiative.
